I Adore…Pushing The Envelope
by amandarosephotography
As any bride knows, the stress leading up to your wedding day can be extremely overwhelming! I say don’t let the planning take over your life, let someone experienced in the industry step in and provide their professional assistance to make your life a lot easier. That is why I adore Susan at Pushing The Envelope, because she not only knows how to make your wedding vision appear on paper, but she is such an awesome person to help bounce ideas off of and gets your own creative juices going about your big day! She specializes in unique, custom designed invitations that are just so drop dead gorgeous, I can’t say it enough!!
Here is her advice as one of my featured vendors:
Planning a wedding is not only exciting but it’s a series of “firsts”…The first time the bride sees her gown, the first time the groom sees his bride, the first kiss as husband and wife…all magical moments that come once in a lifetime. But what happens before that special day can often cause stress UNLESS you have a plan.
One of the first jobs a newly engaged couple has to tackle is to decide where and when the wedding will occur. Then, to find the perfect invite!! One that will let your guests know they are sharing in one of the most important days of your life.
So where to begin? First, think about what type of wedding you want to have. From casual to formal the choices are many. Then think about what colors speak to you and your honey. Once you have an idea…it’s time to visit a stationer that can make it all a reality on paper. At that first visit, don’t be afraid to bring those things that inspire you …pictures, color swatches…anything that can give the designer a sense of your taste. Most importantly, have a budget in mind…knowing how much you have to spend helps the designer focus and lead you in the right direction.
Save the dates, engagement party invitations or announcements, wedding invitations, programs, fans, place cards or seating charts (and I could go on and on…) are all part of the paper products you might need. Talk to your designer about all of these so even though they don’t have to be “matchy-matchy” they do have a cohesive design.
This year, bright colors have been very popular however, black and white is running a close second. One pitfall to avoid is to remember that fabric and paper show colors differently so trying to match your bridesmaid dresses to the invitation could be tricky….a good designer can get it fairly close but again, you need to be flexible.
Another decision that has to be made is which font or typeface to use on the invitation. Choosing the right one can be the difference between your invitations looking “blah” or designed with intent. Casual or formal the invitation sets the tone for the day and lets your guests know it’s an event not to be missed!!
Every couple deserves the “fairy tale” and Pushing the Envelope works hard to be sure every couple realizes their dreams and without all the stress!
If you have any invitations needs for your wedding, shower, engagement, baby, or any party or celebration, I highly recommend Susan at Pushing The Envelope!
